This past week we were working on where to buy plexiglass for our robot's safety. We also worked on figuring out if the IR beacon had to be exactly level with the sensor. We also worked on an attachment that will flip a block into a basket during the autonomous period.

Getting Started to FTC!

FTC stands for FIRST Tech Challenge.

It is designed  for those who want to compete head to head, using a sports model. Teams are responsible for designing, building, and programming their robots to compete in an alliance format against other teams. The robot kit is programmed using a variety of languages. Teams are required to develop strategy and build robots based on sound engineering principles. Awards are given for the competition as for well as for community outreach, design, and other real-world accomplishments.

Students get to:

Design, build, and program robots
Apply real-world math and science concepts
Develop problem-solving, organizational, and team-building skills
Compete and cooperate in alliances and tournaments
Earn a place in the World Championship
Qualify for over $10.4 million in college scholarships

This years game will be announced on September 7th.

In preparation for the season, our team will be completing 15 training sets in the summer  and some hands on activities! These sets will give us a basis on how to program, operate and build robots.
